Industrial design and product design engineer
Internship at UC Berkeley
6-month internship as an junior mechanical engineer
Presentation of the laboratory
During my studies at the UTBM, I had the opportunity to do a 6-month internship at UC Berkeley in the Berkeley Robotics and Human Engineering Laboratory.
In this lab, students are mainly working on the design of exoskeletons, especially for military purpose but also for people with reduced mobility.
Following are some pictures of products they designed and you can also check on the website of the lab to get more information.

As part of my studies at the UTBM (University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard) I had the opportunity to do my 6-month internship in the Berkeley Robotics and Human Engineering laboratory.
During my internship I was working with a student of UC Berkeley to help her to design a device that would help dentist to avoid having neck troubles due to the fact that they are always in the same position.
I had to study materials that we could use by doing several strength calculus. We had to find materials that would make the device be as light as possible but also that would support the head properly.
I also drew several possible styles for the device because one of the goal was to make is good-looking and ergonomics: the user had to be able to wear the system without his client noticing it, the user had to be able to put it on him very easily and the device had to be comfortable.
This internship allowed me to really work on the mechanical engineering aspect of the project with the strength calculus and the study of materials, but also to work on the ergonomics and style aspect of the project.
I used Solidworks during this internship. I also had the oppotunity to create prototypes for the system.
